Co-founded and grew a design consultancy, sharing responsibility for business development, marketing, and strategy.
Led the industrial design team—setting creative direction, mentoring staff, and upholding high standards.
Acted as project lead on technically complex programmes—managing multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electronic, and software disciplines to deliver complete, manufacturable solutions.
Delivered end-to-end product development from concept through DFM, using SolidWorks, GD&T, and DFA principles.

Took ownership of several mechanical assemblies in the development of the DC24 upright vacuum and combination floor care tools, which remained in service for nearly 20 years before their recent replacement.
Worked across the full product lifecycle—from concept generation to engineering drawings and offshore manufacture.
Performed mechanical analysis including FEA and tolerance stack-up studies to support robust, high-precision design.
Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to prototype and refine components using in-house prototyping and test rigs. With a hands-on approach my time was evenly split between Unigraphics NX and the workshop.
Created 2D technical drawings and authored tooling and transfer-of-knowledge reports for manufacturers in Malaysia.
Gained practical experience in DFM, injection moulding, and high-volume manufacturing, applying strong awareness of tooling and assembly constraints.
Committed to meeting tight project deadlines, often working extended hours and supporting a strong team culture during high-pressure delivery phases.

This holistic course taught me to design and develop well-considered and potentially commercial products, particularly focusing on the technological aspect of design. Our final year product had to be aesthetic and a fully functional working prototype combined.
My final project ‘Aqualife’ provides third world countries and disaster stricken areas with an innovative way of obtaining clean, safe drinking water. The key features of the product are, ease of use, very cheap to maintain, serviceable with only a knife and perishable parts, which could be replaced with local materials.
