Career progression, science and engineering are due to hit the headlines as hot topics this fortnight. Specifically, this week celebrates National Careers Week in schools, colleges and universities up and down the country; a reminder to those looking to their future careers of what is truly possible. The event will help to educate students on how they map their route to achieve the career of their dreams and will advise them of exactly what sorts of qualifications they will need to achieve career success. Next week, Conficio will also be joining the celebration of National Science and Engineering Week. This is an opportunity for all people young, old and anywhere in-between to get involved in science and engineering and take a bite of the tech!
At Conficio however, shiny successful careers and getting stuck in to science and engineering, are our bread and butter, this is our 5-a-day, our main staple. But what’s looking different this week? We are proud to announce the arrival of two new team members, to the fold; welcome to Dan, our Business Development Manager, and Brent, our new Industrial Design Engineer. Let’s find out a little more about our new recruits.
Dan – Business Development Manager
Dan has come on-board to take control of all business development activities, so if you have new projects up your sleeve or have some fresh introductions you want to make here at Conficio, you will likely be meeting Dan very soon.Having worked with a number of large global companies over the years, from boardroom to corporate level, Dan’s experience is extensive, working with key influencers and decision makers at all levels; Dan loves working with people and ensuring those relationships are effective and successful for all parties.
With a solid 20 years working in Aerospace and Defence, Dan is welcoming a fresh challenge in the shape of Conficio. He looks forward to applying the same passion and determination to relationship building that he relished in his previous role. When he’s not at work Dan describes himself as a ‘music obsessed, out of work rock star’. “I still love to write and arrange songs but it’s more of a hobby these days. I love to cook and fancy myself as a bit of MasterChef, especially cooking all things Asian.” Dan also enjoys keeping fit and healthy having completed marathons, triathlons and played football at an elite level. To ensure his fitness doesn’t dwindle, he’s kept on my toes by his 3 lovely daughters and a highly energetic springer spaniel.
Ice Breaker: Dan was struck by lightning at the age of 15 and survived to tell the tale!
Product Love: “I couldn’t possibly live without the many Bluetooth speakers that I own and most recently, my daughters Nintendo Switch.”
Brent – Industrial Design Engineer
We are excited to welcome Brent to Conficio; he brings with him a strong experience in mechanical and product design, ranging from hands-on through to digital environments. His key focuses in product design are always set on high quality, seamless user interface, cost effectiveness and product desirability – of course, we couldn’t agree more – welcome to the team Brent, you’ll fit right in!
Brent prides himself on providing full turnkey solutions, meaning he is comfortable taking your product from concept right through to manufacture stage; design is part of Brent’s daily life.
When he’s not at work Brent also enjoys fitness, reading and dabbling in musical instruments whenever possible.
Ice Breaker: Brent recently returned from working in Vietnam for six months which gave him an interesting view on design and its application. Whether its branding, market presence or a full product portfolio that is needed he’s embracing the learning; “my hands, your will”.
Product Love: “When it comes to gadgets I am a complete tech nerd and don’t think I could live without my MacBook and iPhone – who couldn’t?!”
